Happy Endings review – 3×07: ‘No-Ho-Ho’

It’s time for the Christmas themed episode of Happy Endings. I love Christmas episodes, I still watch the My So Called Life xmas episdoe every year along with the Popular episode (from season 1…the good season). There’s nothing like seeing some of our favorite characters get into the spirit. And unlike last year’s mediocre offering, this year is a pleasant surprise. Could this season have finally hit its stride? Let’s review.

There have been good times and there have been bad times this season on Homeland, but it all comes down to this: how does the second season end?

Fringe review – 5×09: ‘Black Blotter’

December 15, 2012 by tvangie

Fringe delivers this season’s version of the infamous ‘episode 19’, where out-of-the-box formal and narrative techniques are thrown into the mix. This year it comes by way of Walter’s (John Noble) acid trip resulting in a few excellent sequences, but it’s still a rather diluted ‘episode 19’ offering than we’ve seen in seasons past.

Let’s bitch it out…

Last Resort finishes its fall run with a dramatic turn of events that have huge implications. Oh…and Christine (Jessy Schram) is involved in a lurid kidnapping plotline.

Let me tell you a (not-so-secret) secret about myself: I love holiday episodes of TV shows. So how does this week’s The Vampire Diaries fare on its juxtaposition of the dark and the brightly coloured lights?

Modern Family review – 4×10: ‘Diamond In The Rough’

You know how scientists suspect that certain athletes’ brains process events so quickly that it is almost as if these athletes are perceiving what is happening around them in slow motion? (Wayne Gretzky comes to mind). It supposedly allows them to better anticipate what’s coming and map out how they’ll react faster than regular humans. Well, audience, you and I are these super athletes when it comes to Modern Family – we’re watching jokes coming from waaaay down the ice, anticipating the punchline and the smirk, cringe or eye roll they will generate. Oof.

Arrow review – 1×09: ‘Year’s End’

December 12, 2012 by Joe Lipsett

Arrow delivers an appropriately bleak and cliffhanger-y fall finale as the mythology jumps to the next level and a countdown is initiated. Six months, folks: that’s how long Sunspot Sunscreen Starling City has.
