After watching the season finale of Revenge Wednesday, I was certain that I had seen the craziest hour of television that the 2011-2012 season had to offer. Fast forward twenty-four hours and begin a slow-clap for Awake, a complicated show that never quite caught on. Last night touched on insane series finale territory as it somehow managed to answer questions but revealed nothing all at the same time. Let the great debate begin!

The Doctor Who Project: At the behest of TVAngie (and many, many of my students), I’ve been catching up on the 2005 revision of Doctor Who. I’ll be posting my thoughts on some of the big episodes as I make my way up through the series. After last week’s uber-disappointing outing, I went into Lost Girl with some trepidation. Then I remembered it’s the notorious sixth episode for which a great deal of digital ink has been written on a particular intimate encounter between a certain doctor and a certain succubus. It’s Christmas time on Mad Men as the gingers take centre stage in this week’s offering. We get the return of Lane Pryce (Jared Harris), some significant Joan (Christina Hendricks) screen time, and the return of a familiar face in a very bizarre plotline.

As we move into the final episodes of the second season, Game Of Thrones goes into ‘chatty cathy’ mode as characters discuss their plans, vent their frustrations and generally make demands or threats of one another. So it’s basically a regular episode, only with fewer action scenes.

It’s quite bittersweet to review a show knowing that it’ll be one of the last episodes EVER. Part of me wishes Awake goes completely out of the box and deliver something really memorable in this two-part finale, perhaps inspiring a letter-writing campaign or a NetFlix revival. The other part of me just hopes that I’ll get closure by the end of it all. “Two Birds” does feel rushed at times, but despite that, I do have a feeling I’ll be satisfied by series’ end.
