Netflix: 5 Shows to discover

September 20, 2013 by couchpotato

As an embarrassingly avid TV watcher, I’m surprised at how many shows I missed the first time around. Luckily, I had no reason to fear. Netflix, in all its streaming wonder, has been my savior against going outside, enjoying the fresh air, and interacting with humanity. Below are the Top Five Shows that I have rediscovered on Netflix.  [Read more…]

The Bridge review – 1×11: ‘Take The Ride, Pay The Toll’

September 19, 2013 by Joe Lipsett

Looking around the Internet, reviews of The Bridge review read “The End of a Nightmare”, “The central mystery hits its peak” and, most amusingly, “the killer’s motives and methods are revealed” (these weren’t clear before?). None of these statements are incorrect…and yet I can’t help but feel frustrated and annoyed at this supposedly “climatic” episode.

Broadchurch review – 1×07

September 19, 2013 by Joe Lipsett

It’s backstory week on Broadchurch as the past comes back to haunt both Susan (Pauline Quirke), as well as Hardy (David Tennant). But are we any closer to catching the killer?

Under The Dome review – 1×13: ‘Curtains’

September 17, 2013 by Joe Lipsett

It’s season finale time on CBS’ Under The Dome and in true show fashion, the “meh” factor is high, up to and including the groan inducing cliffhanger.

Sleepy Hollow review – 1×01: ‘Pilot’

Greetings my fellow 19th-century-literature-adaptation fans. Fall pilot season is FINALLY here! And I must say, Sleepy Hollow is a great way to kick it off.

Dexter review – 8×11: ‘Monkey In A Box’

September 16, 2013 by Joe Lipsett

It’s not easy reviewing a show that you’ve grown to hate. You try to remain objective, but often it becomes a case of “waiting to be disappointed.” For the greater part of ‘Monkey In A Box’ I hoped that Dexter would prove me wrong. Inevitably it didn’t.

Breaking Bad review- 5×14: ‘Ozymandias’

September 16, 2013 by tvangie

Breaking Bad gives us a powerful punch to the gut as we head into the penultimate episode of the series next week. Tying up a plethora of loose ends, does this week’s episode reinforce our faith that finale will be not only epic but incredibly satisfying as well?

Let’s bitch it out.

The White Queen 1×5: War at First Hand

September 15, 2013 by couchpotato

I’m getting whiplash from the revolving Kings. This week, Edward (Max Irons) takes the crown back, Warwick (James Frain) and Henry Stafford (Michael Maloney) die, and the Brothers York make a dubious moral decision.

The Bridge review – 1×10: ‘Old Friends’

September 12, 2013 by Joe Lipsett

The Bridge delivers an anti-climatic episode as Marco (Demián Bichir) and Sonya (Diane Kruger) race to save Gus (Carlos Pratt) and the serial killer tropes pile up.
