Flashback recap – Doctor Who 4×08-4×09: ‘Silence In The Library’ and ‘Forest Of The Dead’

May 31, 2012 by Joe Lipsett

The Doctor Who Project: At the behest of TVAngie (and many, many of my students), I’ve been catching up on the 2005 revision of Doctor Who. I’ll be posting my thoughts on some of the big episodes as I make my way up through the series. Thus far I’ve tackled ‘Blink’ – a series high point – and 4×03 ‘Planet Of The Ood’ – a weaker episode that seems reflective of the quality of the first half of the fourth season. With the arrival of River Song (Alex Kingston), however, things seem back on the path to recovery.

Flashback recap – Doctor Who 4×03: ‘Planet Of The Ood’

The Doctor Who Project: At the behest of TVAngie (and many, many of my students), I’ve been catching up on the 2005 revision of Doctor Who. I’ll be posting my thoughts on some of the big episodes as I make my way up through the series. Last week I tackled ‘Blink’ – which was a series high point – so it’s a little ironic that I’m following that up with one of the weaker episodes in recent seasons: 4×03’s ‘Planet Of The Ood’. Or as I’ve subtitled it: “Why I never want to see the Ood again”.

Girls recap – 1×07: ‘Welcome to Bushwick, a.k.a. The Crackcident’

May 28, 2012 by yellowwait

After last week’s Hannah-centric (Lena Dunham) episode, we find the girls back together, in the funniest episode to date, heading to Bushwick to attend a warehouse party. While the intention was to attend the “best party ever,” the evenings festivities were complicated by the various men in their lives…and Ray (Alex Karpovsky).

Continuum recap – 1×01: ‘A Stitch In Time’

Last night Canadian viewers got a look at the new sci-fi series Continuum on Showcase. The series, created by one of the minds behind FOX’s 24, joins the ranks of other Canadian genre shows, a group that includes hit series, Lost Girl. So how does this one stack up to the others?

Mad Men recap – 5×11: ‘The Other Woman’

May 28, 2012 by Joe Lipsett

It’s ladies night on Mad Men as both Joan (Christina Hendricks) and Peggy (Elisabeth Moss) make huge career moves. But is this a case of women doing it for themselves, or are they trying to prove something to the men?

Game Of Thrones recap – 2×09: ‘Blackwater’

May 28, 2012 by Joe Lipsett

It’s a battle royale on Game Of Thrones as Stannis’ (Stephen Dillane) fleet finally reaches Blackwater and sh*t gets real. The battle is a serious barn burner (and not just in HBO’s budget!).

Awake recap – 1×13: ‘Turtles All The Way Down’

May 25, 2012 by Joe Lipsett

After watching the season finale of Revenge Wednesday, I was certain that I had seen the craziest hour of television that the 2011-2012 season had to offer. Fast forward twenty-four hours and begin a slow-clap for Awake, a complicated show that never quite caught on. Last night touched on insane series finale territory as it somehow managed to answer questions but revealed nothing all at the same time. Let the great debate begin!

Revenge recap – 1×22: ‘Reckoning’

May 24, 2012 by Joe Lipsett

Well, that’s a wrap on the buzziest, most compulsively addictive show of the season. And if you liked cliffhangers, then you scored the mother load as Revenge broke out every twist and turn it could think of.

The Doctor Who Project: At the behest of TVAngie (and many, many of my students), I’ve been catching up on the 2005 revision of Doctor Who. I’ll be posting my thoughts on some of the big episodes as I make my way up through the series. For now I’m up to season four, but before I move on, I thought I’d tackle ‘Blink’, the Doctor’s tenth episode of season three.
