True Blood review – 6×02: ‘The Sun’

June 24, 2013 by Joe Lipsett

Courtesy of HBO

The sixth season of True Blood is just getting started and it’s unclear which – if any – of this season’s disparate storylines will pay off. ‘The Sun’ suggests that there’s a bit of a game-plan and OH MY GAWD BILLITH (Stephen Moyer) JUST LOOPER‘D THE BLOOD OUT OF THAT HOOKER!

Let’s bitch it out… [Read more…]

After two solid outings, Continuum kicks into overdrive as the intentions of warring factions of Liber8 are elaborated on and the bodies hit the floor.

Hannibal review – 1×13: ‘Savoureux’

June 21, 2013 by Joe Lipsett

The first season finale of NBC’s wonderful Hannibal is upon us and all I can say is that I’m incredibly grateful that we’re guaranteed another 13 episodes of this engrossing drama.

Arrested Development review – 4×04: ‘The B. Team’

June 20, 2013 by Bitch Stole My Remote

“The B. Team” is actually an apt metaphor for this season. It’s still the same team you know and love, just… not as good.

Let’s break it down… [Read more…]

Teen Wolf review – 3×03: ‘Fireflies’

June 18, 2013 by Joe Lipsett

Courtesy of MTV

Teen Wolf abandons character development in favour of a rip-roaring action/adventure as Scott (Tyler Posey) and co. enlist an unlikely ally in Mr. Argent (JR Bourne) to help track down Derek’s (Tyler Hoechlin) rogue pack mates.

The Borgias review – 3×10: ‘The Prince’

June 17, 2013 by couchpotato

“Winter is coming.” No wait…I’m confused about what show I’m reviewing. Ironically during this final episode of The Borgias, Caterina Sforza (Gina McKee) says it. Perhaps she’s a Game of Thrones fan. Unfortunately for viewers, this line sadly foreshadows the end of the series.

True Blood review – 6×01: ‘Who Are You, Really?’

June 17, 2013 by Joe Lipsett

Courtesy of HBO

True Blood returns for a sixth season of twisted sex, bloody gore and political shenanigans. So how will this show go on without the calming <snicker> hand of creator Alan Ball (who stepped down to focus on his new series, Banshee)?

Judging from the first episode, it’s business as usual.

The Best of The Borgias

June 15, 2013 by couchpotato

The Borgias is coming to an end this weekend, with the final episode airing on Sunday. Since it pains me to think that the show has been cancelled, I prefer to look at it that the actors, writers and crew are graduating to go work on new projects. So in that vein, I have put together my thoughts on some series superlatives for the show.

Check out our thoughts and then sound off with your own rankings! [Read more…]

Continuum review – 2×02: ‘Split Second’

June 14, 2013 by Joe Lipsett

Courtesy of Syfy / Showcase

Continuum tackles a genre convention – the prison transport heist – as Liber8 fractures into two opposing groups with very different principles. Plus: a little romantic backstory on Sonya (Lexa Doig) and Travis (Roger Cross).

Hannibal review – 1×12: ‘Relevés’

June 14, 2013 by Joe Lipsett

Everyone’s playing mind games in the latest episode of Hannibal as the house of cards surrounding Will (Hugh Dancy), Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen) and Abigail Hobbs (Kacey Rohl) comes crashing down. So who ends up under the wreckage?
