Happy Endings recap 2×13: ‘The St. Valentine’s Day Maxssacre’

February 9, 2012 by yellowwait

Courtesy of ABC

Recently, this website posted their 100th post, and this anniversary had me in a nostalgic mood. I decided to revisit my very first post. Way back then I had gone on a mini-rant about Happy Endings, and especially the character of Max (Adam Pally). It seemed like his character had eschewed all development in favor of crude jokes and crazy antics. Well, it’s as if the writers had been reading this blog all along – this week’s episode seems to have answered my prayers. Let’s do this!

Revenge recap 1 x 14: ‘Perception’

February 9, 2012 by tvangie

This week’s offering of Revenge showed some serious cracks in Emily’s (Emily VanCamp) insatiable plight for the downfall of her enemies. Is our heroine’s once sure-footing slipping out from under her?

Let’s take a closer look after the jump:

The River recap – 1×01/02: “Magus”/”Marbeley”

February 8, 2012 by tvangie

The River, another highly-anticipated new series, premiered last night. The show is the product of co-creator Oren Peli, who gave us the Paranormal Activity franchise, and has the intriguing premise of finding a missing person in the depths of the Amazon jungle. The show is chalked full of interesting characters and creepy imagery, but was it able to satisfy the seemingly unreasonable expectations I have for new shows this season?

Find out after the jump.

Ringer recap – 1×12: ‘What Are You Doing Here, Ho-Bag?’

February 8, 2012 by Joe Lipsett

Courtesy of The CW

For weeks I’ve been fielding the same question from friends, co-workers, and even strangers on the street: why am I’m still watching (and recapping) The CW’s Ringer? I’ll admit, the question was becoming harder and harder to answer as the show wasted its goodwill and abused its talented cast. But I had faith that it would find it’s inner soapy. And low and behold, tonight was the night the show finally got its shit together and became the show I had hoped it would be.

Let’s bitch it out… [Read more…]

Alcatraz recap: 1 x 05 – “Guy Hastings”

February 7, 2012 by tvangie

Alrighty Alcatraz fans, it was make or break time this week to see if the new series would be worth sticking around for the rest of the season. After a month of my griping and with the secret hope the show would burst through its tired formula and into intriguing territory, did last night’s episode succeed in changing my mind?

Find out after the jump. (Please note this recap contains SPOILERS) [Read more…]

Lost Girl recap – 1×04: ‘Faetal Attraction’

February 6, 2012 by Joe Lipsett

Courtesy of Showcase / Syfy

Last week Lost Girl echoed my beloved Buffy, the Vampire Slayer in several ways: the case of the week featured a giant reptile and the Greek system, and our heroine, Bo (Anna Silk) slept with her boyfriend, only to have him turn into a giant sack of douche. So what’s a girl to do? Kenzi and I would go the ice cream for breakfast route, but I guess if you’re a succubus rejection means you have a threesome. That works, too!

Let’s bitch it out… [Read more…]

Smash recap – 1×01: “Pilot”

February 6, 2012 by tvangie

Courtesy of NBC

Let me start out by saying that I am a theatre nut. I’ve always loved Broadway musicals (even the small ones) and have done my time working in community theatre for many years. So ever since we were teased with Smash in early 2011, I’ve been breaking out in spontaneous jazz hands with anticipation. But does one of the most buzz-worthy shows of the season live up to its hype?

Let’s break it down after the jump. (Please note this recap contains SPOILERS)

Commentary – ‘Gimme All Your Luvin’ video – Madonna

February 5, 2012 by yellowwait

Madonna, the reigning queen of pop, is back in the spotlight in a big way. With her new movie W.E., her superbowl halftime show, her press tour and her new album, she seems to be everywhere. Friday saw the release of her new video for her single ‘Give Me All Your Luvin,’ (click to watch) featuring Nicki Minaj and MIA.

Just like she did when Britney was exploding, Madonna is back to show Gaga how it’s done. Or is she? Let’s discuss. [Read more…]

Fringe recap – 4×11: “Making Angels”

February 4, 2012 by tvangie

Courtesy of FOX via givememyremote.com

After many episodes of just hanging out in the background, we get a double dose of Astrid (Jasika Nicole) in this week’s Fringe offering. Even though I wouldn’t classify this as an Astrid-centric episode, proper – it still gave us plenty of great moments and interesting tidbits of this loved character throughout.

Let’s take a closer look after the jump. [Read more…]

Review: I Just Want My Pants Back – 1×01: ‘Pilot’

February 4, 2012 by Joe Lipsett

Courtesy of MTV

For the longest time I avoided MTV shows like the plague. While I understood the appeal of their reality TV line-up (Jersey Shore, The Real World), I’m wasn’t personally interested in them. And, if we’re being honest, I’m judgy. Even when I heard the cable channel was getting back into scripted shows, I didn’t bite. Then last summer I watched Awkward and it became my #4 best show of 2011. Thus when I heard about a new comedy called I Just Want My Pants Back, I decided to give it a go to see if lightning struck twice.

Let’s bitch it out… [Read more…]
