Awkward. review – 2×10: ‘Pick Me, Choose Me, Love Me’

August 31, 2012 by Joe Lipsett

Courtesy of MTV

After a rocky start in which the second season of Awkward. focused entirely too much on the love triangle between Jenna (Ashley Rickards), Jake (Brett Davern) and Matty (Beau Mirchoff), the last few episodes have completely rebounded into the heartfelt show that we know and love. Not going to lie, I may have even shed a tear or two.

Let’s bitch it out… [Read more…]

August 30, 2012 by Joe Lipsett

Things are wrapping up on Damages are we inch closer and closer to the finale. This week we cover a significant amount of ground – both about Ellen’s (Rose Byrne) fatalistic future, as well as whether or not Patty (Glenn Close) was truly responsible for the hit on her protege’s life.

Flashback review – The West Wing 2×21-2×22: ‘18th and Potomac’ and ‘Two Cathedrals’

You know you’ve got a great finale if your protagonist stands in the middle of church and calls God a “feckless thug” and that isn’t even its most memorable moment. The end of the exemplary second season is upon us, and these episodes bring out the best The West Wing has to offer.

Grimm review – 2×03: ‘Bad Moon Rising’

August 28, 2012 by Joe Lipsett

As feared, Grimm sinks back into a bland “case of the week” format that dilutes a the monumental plot development that will forever alter the show. Oh, Grimm…

Breaking Bad review – 5×07: ‘Say My Name’

August 27, 2012 by tvangie

The penultimate episode of the first half in Breaking Bad‘s final season showed us just how far Walt (Bryan Cranston) will go in his quest for power and, if we had any doubt, adequately shows us that he’s beyond the point of no return.

Let’s bitch it out.

Well, we were promised a bloodbath! And since this is True Blood – the show that has yet to kill off a main character – we probably should have known that our favourites were safe. So what did ‘Save Yourself’ do right…and what didn’t work quite as well?

Lost Girl review – 2×19: ‘Truth And Consequences’

August 24, 2012 by Joe Lipsett

Courtesy of Syfy / Showcase

If our emotional response to television shows is directly proportional to our investment in it, then Lost Girl has long had me wrapped around its little finger. And while this may help to explain why I love it so much, it also means that I’m much more let down when it makes a misstep. And then there are the events of ‘Truth And Consequences’: an episode that makes such an atrociously terrible narrative decision that I literally cussed out my television.

Let’s really bitch it out… [Read more…]
