Revenge recap – 1×21: ‘Grief’

May 17, 2012 by Joe Lipsett

With only a single episode remaining in the season, Revenge bids farewell to one of its most beloved characters as it sets up storylines for the finale. Oh, also, it’s cribbing from every “vast conspiracy” show out there. This could get ugly…

He Said/She Said: Smash recap – 1×15: ‘Bombshell’

Karen Cartwright (Katherine McPhee). That’s who was chosen to portray Marilyn Monroe in ‘Bombshell’ as the NBC show Smash closed out its freshman season last night. Looking back, Smash turned out to be more of a shin-splint marathon rather than a quick easy sprint. It never quite recovered the creative footing it kindasorta demonstrated waaaay back in its pilot, and frequently left us shaking our heads, our fists and the clumps of hair we pulled out during moments of (often Ellis inspired) frustration.

At least we knew that we were in good company, though: even The Hulk was creatively dissatisfied going into the finale.

In honour of ‘Bombshell’, we’re doubling up with two bitches instead of one. So how did the finale do?

Girls recap – 2×04-05: ‘Hannah’s Diary,’ ‘Hard Being Easy’

“You’re smarter than this, Hannah.” Truer words were never spoken. If only Hannah (Lena Dunham) had taken them to heart. Instead, in the past two episodes, Hannah has learned something about sexual harassment (I think), Soshanna (Zosia Mamet) tried to get laid, Jessa (Jemima Kirke) lost some kids, and Marnie (Allison Williams)….well…let’s get to it. Lost Girl recap – 2×05: ‘BrotherFae Of The Wolves’

Every once in a while, a show will have a bad episode. It’s normal – a fact of life when you’re producing 42-44 minutes of television on a weekly basis. But then every other once in a while, an episode isn’t simply bad; it’s downright awful. These are the episodes that make you think someone should have burned the script and told the actors to take a week off, because clearly something just went horribly, horribly wrong.

Welcome to this week’s Lost Girl…

Mad Men recap – 5×09: ‘Dark Shadows’

This week Mad Men delivers one of its more mediocre episodes of the season. Is the return of Betty (January Jones) to blame?

Let’s take a closer look after the jump.

Game Of Thrones recap – 2×07: ‘A Man Without Honor’

I’ve mentioned a few times how challenging Game Of Thrones can be to recap. There’s often an urge to try and find an overarching theme that unifies the episode and inevitably everyone seems to identify a different one. There’s also the frequent danger of lapsing into a basic point by point breakdown of the episode, which can make for some pretty dry reading. With that in mind, let’s tackle this week’s episode.
