Ringer recap – 1×22: ‘I’m The Good Twin’

April 18, 2012 by Joe Lipsett

Back in the fall, Ringer was on most people’s radar with the return of Sarah Michelle Gellar playing dual roles in a taut, psychological thriller. The show was broody, soapy and adult. It had a great supporting cast. Fast forward twenty-two episodes later as Ringer airs its finale as a bubble show with a questionably murky future. This might be the last time I ever get to gently mock the show! Oh Ringer! Sniff…

Lost Girl recap – 2×01: ‘Something Wicked This Fae Comes’

Boy, the events of the season finale of Lost Girl feel like they just happened yesterday. Alright…maybe it was last week. Thanks to the miracle of Syfy picking up the show for the second season, which just happens to already be in the can, we simply carry on this week without pause!

Game Of Thrones recap – 2×03: ‘What Is Dead May Never Die’

April 16, 2012 by Joe Lipsett

I can say without a doubt that Game Of Thrones is my most difficult show to recap. Probably because it feels like there is so much going on and there are so many characters that it’s a struggle to do more than simply reiterate what happens in each episode. So let’s give this third episode, ‘What Is Dead May Never Die’ the good ole’ fashioned try since it handily broke the action down to a few key places.

Let’s bitch it out!

Film Review: Cabin In The Woods

April 14, 2012 by Joe Lipsett

Cabin In The Woods is the new horror film from Buffy, The Vampire Slayer collaborators Joss Whedon and Drew Godard. Expectations (and hype) are high after well-received festival screenings and the pedigree of the behind the scenes talent (which includes A Nightmare On Elm Street‘s Heather Langenkamp?!).

In the interest of those people who have seen the film and those who haven’t,  I’m going to do an unconventional thing: I’ve written two reviews. The first half of the following piece is for people who want a quick review to decide whether or not to see the film. The second half is for people who have seen the finished product.

Awake recap – 1×07: ‘Ricky’s Tacos’

April 13, 2012 by Joe Lipsett

The week after Awake‘s best hour since the pilot, the show returns to the procedural rut. We do, however, also see a return to the conspiracy angle that’s gone unexplored since 1×02 ‘The Little Guy’. So where does this leave us?

Justified recap – 3×13: ‘Slaughterhouse’

April 11, 2012 by Joe Lipsett

With a title like ‘Slaughterhouse’, how could we expect anything other than a bloodbath for the season finale of Justified‘s third season? I wonder, then, how many people were disappointed that the episode was less of the epic shoot-outs we’ve come to expect from the show instead opting for a much more resigned ending?

Let’s bitch it out…
