Homeland review – 2×02: ‘Beirut Is Back’

October 8, 2012 by Joe Lipsett

The second episode of Showtime’s Homeland finds Carrie (Claire Danes) firmly entrenched in the field – and under fire – as Brody (Damian Lewis) navigates some murky moral issues. Naturally, though, it’s the development that ends the episode that will have tongues wagging.

Let’s bitch it out… [Read more…]

Homeland review – 2×01: ‘The Smile’

Well, well, well. Sunday night is easily the craziest night for high quality television, but the only show I’ve been truly waiting for with bated breath is Showtime’s Homeland. Last year I named it the best show in the first annual Bitch Awards (TVAngie named it second best) and last week the show took home the Emmy for Best Drama. So clearly the show’s sophomore season would never be able to live up to the hype, right?

Wrong.

Let’s bitch it out… [Read more…]

Homeland recap – 1×11: ‘The Vest’

It’s the penultimate episode of Homeland and although the hour is filled with lots of interesting scenes, it still feels a bit like a filler episode because we’re not really any closer to finding out the plan for next week’s big attack. Instead we follow along as the Brody family goes on vacation before the campaign kicks off and address how last week’s explosion affects Carrie’s (Claire Danes) bipolarism.

Let’s break it down… [Read more…]

Homeland recap – 1×10: ‘Representative Brody’

December 6, 2011 by Joe Lipsett

As we inch closer to the season finale of arguably the best show on television this fall, Homeland slows down to do some final character work and ramp up the tension in a few key scenes. We’re no close to finding Tom Walker (Chris Chalk), but there were nevertheless big developments for both Carrie (Claire Danes) and Brody (Damian Lewis) in ‘Representative Brody.’

Homeland recap – 1×09: ‘Crossfire’

With this episode we move into the third act of the season’s best new show and go flashback heavy into Brody’s (Damian Lewis) time in captivity. Meanwhile Carrie (Claire Danes) flirts with a career in conflict management as she attempts to diffuse tensions in the wake of last week’s mosque attack.
