Homeland recap – 1×12: ‘Marine One’

December 19, 2011 by Joe Lipsett

Well that’s a wrap folks. The first season of Showtime’s brilliant drama, Homeland, has come to its conclusion and we have a lot to talk about. Major SPOILERS coming up.

Let’s break it down… [Read more…]

Justified recap 2×04: ‘For Blood or Money’

It’s always difficult to discuss an episode of relatively straightforward television. After an episode which began as a stand-alone dovetailed into an exploration of how ambitious the Bennett family is, 2×04 ‘For Blood or Money’ reverted back to the familiar season one model of a stand-alone case.  Thankfully the case provided some background on one of my most interesting characters, and began with a dynamite scene.

Being Erica Recap – 4 x 11 “Dr. Erica” (Series Finale)

December 13, 2011 by tvangie

It’s so hard to say good-bye isn’t it? Being Erica had what appears* to be its final episode last night, and true to how the rest of the season has gone, there were no huge reveals or mind-bending twists, but a focus on accepting endings and starting new beginnings.

Creator Jana Sinyor has stated:

Season 4 is the end. It’s important to Aaron and I to be able to finish the story in a way that is satisfying to our audience. This is going to be a big year for Erica, and by the end of it – she will have finished the journey she started…

Think this happened? Let’s see as we break it down…

*There are some rumblings going on about how this may not be the final season, as many of the episode descriptions define this as the “season” vs. “series” finale. Take a look at some of these articles featuring interviews with creator/executive producer Jana Sinyor and executive producer Aaron Martin and judge for yourself. It sounds to me like this was their last season, but I think CBC might want to leave the door open to season five. CBC’s renewals came out in February this year, so we have a couple of months of nail-biting to see if this will actually happen and Erica’s journey continues. Judging by this season (*cough Ford Focus, Tetley Infusions cough*) and this episode, I’m putting my money on this being last of the series.

Homeland recap – 1×11: ‘The Vest’

December 12, 2011 by Joe Lipsett

Courtesy of Showtime

It’s the penultimate episode of Homeland and although the hour is filled with lots of interesting scenes, it still feels a bit like a filler episode because we’re not really any closer to finding out the plan for next week’s big attack. Instead we follow along as the Brody family goes on vacation before the campaign kicks off and address how last week’s explosion affects Carrie’s (Claire Danes) bipolarism.

Once Upon A Time recap – 1×07: ‘The Heart is a Lonely Hunter’

December 12, 2011 by Joe Lipsett

Courtesy of ABC

Well, that’s it for Once Upon A Time. Not because I’m breaking up with the show (oh hells no), but simply because it’s reached the end of its fall run and will take a break until January 8 (according to Michael Ausiello’s scoresheet). One bonus of the show starting so late this fall is that it will have extra episodes to air in the Winter. Which is good because there will be plenty of fall-out to deal with from “The Heart is a Lonely Hunter.’ Major spoilers ahead.

The Best of Being Erica

December 12, 2011 by tvangie

Courtesy of IMDB.com

Well viewers, we’ve reached that point – Being Erica has its very last episode tonight (sniff). I thought it was fitting (especially considering how uneven this season has been) to remind myself why I think Being Erica has been one of the most interesting and engaging shows of late (serious bonus points for being a decidedly Canadian show as well).

So let’s take a quick trip down memory lane and take a look at some of Being Erica’s best moments (in chronological order).

*Obviously there are many more great scenes that aren’t included in this list. These scenes represent those which really stuck out to me as being something special and memorable. It is by no means an exhaustive list. Please share your top picks in the comments!
