Arrow review – 2×01: ‘City Of Heroes’

October 10, 2013 by Joe Lipsett

One show was a huge surprise last year – the rare kind of self-assured show that jumps out of the box relatively fully-formed, with a distinctive tone and well-defined (albeit work-in-progress) characters. That show was Arrow and it’s finally back for S2. Is the magic still here?

Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. review – 1×03: ‘The Asset’

October 9, 2013 by Joe Lipsett

This week the focus is on hacktivist outsider Skye (Chloe Bennet) as the team investigates the case of a missing scientist (I’m bored just writing that generic description). After a rocky start (and an even rockier second episode) is Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. settling in?

The Originals review – 1×02 : ‘House Of The Rising Son’

October 9, 2013 by thedude35

The return of my favourite bitchy original sister, a daggered good guy in the hands of the enemy and the attempted self-inflicted abortion of a magic baby…what more could we ask for? So does the second instalment of this new spin-off leave me with a better impression than the deja vu I felt last week?

Sleepy Hollow review – 1×04: ‘The Lesser Key Of Solomon’

In The Lesser Key of Solomon, the Mills sisters get back together, learn the name of the demon that’s been plaguing them all these years, and get a history lesson about what really happened at the Boston Tea Party.

Revenge review – 3×02: ‘Sin’

October 7, 2013 by Joe Lipsett

Emily Thorne’s (Emily VanCamp) latest take-down hits a snag as Revenge revisits the revenge vs forgiveness debate. Unfortunately ‘Sin’ proves a little too interested in revisiting the glory days of S1 rather than breaking new ground.

TV-Film review: House Of Versace

October 7, 2013 by Joe Lipsett

In what may be the closest thing to an unofficial sequel to Showgirls, Gina Gershon takes on the lead role of fashion icon Donna Versace in Lifetime’s House Of Versace. Bring on the Ver-sayce!
