Watch With Us: Week of October 14

October 14, 2012 by Joe Lipsett

Courtesy of AMC and FX

You can tell that the pumpkin month is upon us because of the proliferation of scary content debuting on our television screens. This week alone we’ve got the return of two high profile series: AMC’s The Walking Dead (Sunday, 10pm) and FX’s American Horror Story (Wednesday, 10pm).The Walking Dead is coming back for its third season after a mixed reception last year. Some found the events at the farm effective at ratcheting up the tension for a killer finale; others felt it stifled the momentum and lead to too much boring conversation. TVAngie will give us her take every Monday as the new season kicks off with a new location and several buzzy new characters. Revisit our thoughts on S2 of the show here, including the action packed finale.

American Horror Story proved polarizing right from the start. The stylish “miniseries” (according to the Emmys) hails from love-him-or-hate-him creator Ryan Murphy (Glee, Nip/Tuck) and is either the most batsh*t crazy show on TV, or the most lurid over-the-top hot mess since…well the last Ryan Murphy show. cinephilactic will provide a stream of consciousness review every Thursday as the show travels back to the 60s with the tale exploring the sick and twisted events at the titular asylum, Briarcliff Institute.

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 10pm EST on AMC

American Horror Story: Asylum airs Wednesdays at 10pm EST on FX
